Leading
Roofing Manufacturer, Pennsylvania-Based Carlisle SynTec,
to Build
240-Thousand Square Foot Facility
on 50 Acres of Land
The Utah Industrial Depot (UID), located in
Tooele County, has sold 50 acres of land to Carlisle SynTec
Incorporated, a leading national manufacturer of single-play roofing systems,
for construction of a state-of-the-art thermoplastic roofing manufacturing
facility in Tooele.
“We
are very pleased that Carlisle selected Utah Industrial Depot from among
several sites in several states, following a year-long bid process,” said UID
Managing Director, Steve Brown. “The
Carlisle SynTec contract marks the largest
transaction completed at Utah Industrial Depot to date, and brings valuable
employment and financial resources to Utah’s economy.”
UID
Director of Marketing and Carlisle Project Manager, Mark Smith, says the
contract is the result of excellent cooperation and support from Tooele City,
County and
Smith also
credits UID’s adjacency to the Salt Lake Valley’s
population/employment base of 1.6 million people, easy 30-minute commute to the
Salt Lake International Airport, I-80 Freeway and rail service access, and very
competitive price points, as major factors in Carlisle’s decision to locate a
major manufacturing facility there.
“After
reviewing numerous sites throughout the west, the Utah Industrial Depot,
located in Tooele, Utah, was chosen for its many inherent attributes, including
central location to many of our major markets, excellent transportation
facilities including highway and rail access, and close proximity to Salt Lake
City and its airport facilities,” said Carlisle Thermoplastics
Marketing Manager, Ron Head. “Other
important factors that contributed to Carlisle’s decision include the
availability of a quality, educated work force and the willingness of Tooele
City and Utah Industrial Depot officials, to work with Carlisle to facilitate
our needs.”
Head
says the new manufacturing and storage facility will produce Carlisle’s popular
Sure-Weld TPO single-ply roofing membranes and accessory products, and
is the first facility of its kind in the Western U.S. Nearly ten billion square feet of Carlisle
roofing membrane has been installed worldwide to date.
UID is a
private facility, situated on 1,400 acres of land that formerly functioned as
industrial warehousing and manufacturing facilities at the Tooele Army Depot.
Depot Associates purchased the assets, and is currently marketing for sale or
lease, 2.5 million square feet of competitively priced space. The development is comprised of both
buildings and improved land with rail service, available to accommodate
manufacturing, distribution and light industrial users.
