► Tooele Army Depot employed 6,400 workers in 1989 and now they employ about 600. Many of these skilled and trained workers still live in Tooele and commute daily to the Salt Lake City area for employment. Such workers can be easily swayed to take jobs close to their homes at Utah Industrial Depot. ► Approximately 7,500 commuters leave the Tooele Valley on a daily basis. ► Tooele County is growing at a rate of 8% per year (four times faster than the growth of the state as a whole). ► Utah is a Right-to-Work state, meaning that union membership cannot be a condition of employment. Blue collar union membership accounts for only 5% of the labor force in Utah.
